Pipes Gen

Here is another tool developed for 3ds max. This tool makes the creation of pipe systems and roadway systems a simple task. It takes referenced geometry from within the scene and populates a system based on user settings. This tool was developed by John Martini (Me) and Denis Trofimov, as well as ideas from the forum community of CGTalk and ScriptSpot. Thank you everyone for the help you’ve all supplied. This tool will continue to develop and evolve.

Sphere Plus

This is a free 3ds Max primitive plugin to be uses over the default sphere.

This new tool was developed to improve 3ds Max’s regular sphere primitive. This new primitive allows users to control how many columns and rows of verts there are. Holding Alt forces the sphere to be created at [0,0,0]. It allows users to independently adjust the radius on the X,Y,Z. It also gives users to option to adjust whether it’s capped or not when turned into a hemisphere.

Plane Plus

Check a new tool developed to improve 3ds Max’s regular plane primitive.

This new primitive allows users to easily and quickly create reference image planes inside of 3ds max. Holding Alt forces the object to be created at [0,0,0]. If the user holds shift it constrains the object to be square in size. Users can also hold Ctrl to force the object’s creation to be vertical on the Z-axis.
Check it out. I’m open to hear any ways to improve upon the script.

My latest tool creation ‘Tubular’ allows users to create an array of circular/square objects. Available on my website JokerMartini.com In my example videos you will see that I create nearly a dozen different types of screw/bolt heads as well as the threading. This tools allows users to endlessly create objects which its built in Section list. Feel free to add a dozen sections and then go back and fourth adjusting each section as desired. With this tool you can create: bolts, screws, nuts, hour glasses, skirts, donuts, pencils, tubes, cylinders and much much more. Eye Generator

This is another tool development of mine for 3ds Max. This geometry plugin allows users to quickly create and fine tool the looks of an eye for any character. The idea behind this tool was to make a way for users to quickly populate eyes with the ease to adjust the sizing of the iris and pupil. With the benefit of this plugin users can freely animate several properties. As an example the pupil sizing can be animated to represent dilation.

The eye generator plugin allows users to quickly create 3d eyes with controls to adjust the sizing and proportions of the eye. Additional to those controls, users can also adjust the dilation of the pupil as well as animate dilation.

Helix Pro vs Helixometry
One major difference between the two is HelixPro is a spline shape plugin and Helixometry is a geometry plugin. A major benefit to the Geo version over the shape version is the ability to control the thickness of the object from start to finish. As an example users can taper the thickness of the helixometry version from start to end, similar to what you would see on a tree branch of hair strand. In order to do that in max using the Helix Pro version you would be required to make several spline shapes and a loft operation. Another benefit to the helixometry is the added ability to create non uniform radius.

Cylindrus is a geometry plugin for 3ds Max which allows users to create cylinders with individual fillet controls for each end. This makes it possible for users to have different fillet radius sizes for the top and bottom of the cylinder. As an additional control users can have the option to bend the cylinder as well. Randomized Face-ID’s

Have you ever wanted to randomize the face ID’s of an object based on elements, individual polygons, smoothing groups, or objects? Wait no longer. This modifier allows users to manipulate the face ID’s of an object in a non destructive way. Tweesher

Tweesher is a plugin for 3ds Max. This tool allows users to quickly and easily generator any number of meshes between any number of selected meshes. A tutorial will be posted later this week on how to use the tool. I wrote this tool to help generator napkins for an upcoming tutorial in 3D Creative Magazine. Feel free to check out the tool, it’s available for free to download.

To use just select any number of objects in the order you want the ‘in-between meshes’ to be created. One important note to make mention of is that the meshes all have to maintain the same vert count and vert order, just like a morph target requires.

Gamefomizer

Gamefomizer is a tool which returns the count for various vertex types which are used in game engines. The goal is to get as close to 100% as you can each each of the listed categories in order to make the model as optimized as possible. This tool allows you to see what areas have the potentional to be optimized.

Categories:
- Mesh Verts = Directly related to the actual poly count. To optimize check for unwelded verts.
- UV Texture Verts = The number of verts used in the unwrap of the model. To optimize reduce the number of seams.
- Smoothing Group Verts = To optimize reduce the number of sharp edges generated between smoothing groups.
- Color Vertices = Similar to Smoothing Groups. To optimize reduce the number of sharp edges.
- Material ID Verts = Make sure the faces which share the same Mat ID are grouped together.
- Two Sided Material Verts = This is directly related to Mat ID Verts/ In general, don’t use two sided materials if you don’t have to. The number shown for this is the total number of extra verts in the model caused by using two sided materials.

Optimization Techniques:
- Share seams across different categories. For example, if you change the Material ID on a group of faces, you can also change the Smoothing Group without affection the overall vert count. As a result this saves more memory in game engines.
- Reduce the number of seams. For example, don’t split your UV’s into a dozen tiny pieces, try to make a few larger pieces instead.

Labyrinth is a spline plugin for 3ds Max which allows users to create splines on any given object in 3ds Max. The knots which make up Labyrinth are automatically attached to the object’s their generated on. This feature gives users the ability to easily produce stunning effects. How To Use

This tool is a shape object. You can create this tool by going to the ‘Create’ panel in 3ds Max and then going to the shapes tab. From there you’ll find Labyrinth by changing the dropdownlist to ‘JokerMartini.

    Controls

  • Location - Placement at which knots will be generated
  • Order - Sorting method used to order the location points
  • Origin Radar Sort – Forces the radar sorting methods to use the grid origin rather than the average position of the nodes in the list
  • Reverse Order – Flips the order in which the points are ordered
  • Smooth - Controls the knot interpolation for the base points
  • # Splines – Controls the number of splines being generated. Each spline gets a unique seed value
  • Range - Controls the number of points which will be used to generate a spline
  • Start Range – Animatable
  • End Range – Animatable
  • Offset - Aniamtable and is used to move the spline along the generated points
  • Loop - Determines whether the spline should loop through the points or not
  • Surface Points – Overrides the number of points being generated on a surface. Usable when Location type ‘Surface’ is used.
  • Draping - This generates a knot between each of the base points
  • Smooth Draping – Controls the interpolation of the newly generated knots
  • XYZ - These values control the positioning of the knots generated for draping

Roxify

Roxify is a geometry plugin which allows users to quickly create box or sphere shaped mesh made of quad only faces.
Additionally users can further deform the mesh using various deformation algorithms.
